About Paymappr
Paymappr is a free, privacy-first paycheck and salary calculator covering the four largest English-speaking tax systems: the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia.
Why we built this
Figuring out how much of your paycheck you actually keep shouldn't require a spreadsheet or a CPA. Existing tools either bury results under sign-up walls, limit you to one country, or require hundreds of inputs before giving you a number. Paymappr is the opposite: open the calculator, enter your salary, see your take-home. That's it.
What makes us different
- Multi-country, one tool. Switch between US (all 50 states), UK (England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland), Canada (13 provinces and territories), and Australia (8 states and territories) with a single tab.
- Privacy by design. All calculations run in your browser using static JavaScript. Your salary never reaches our servers. No account. No email. No tracking of inputs.
- Official sources, always cited. Every state, province, and region page links to the official revenue authority (IRS, HMRC, CRA, ATO, and their regional counterparts).
- Fast. Pages are pre-rendered as static HTML and served from Cloudflare's global edge. Your calculator loads before the ads do.
- Open formulas. Bracket tables are published on every page so you can verify our math yourself.
How we stay free
Paymappr is supported by Google AdSense advertising. We place a small number of clearly-marked ads around the calculator and in long-form content. We never sell or share your input data (we don't even collect it). We don't show paywalls, gate results behind email sign-ups, or require accounts.
How rates are updated
We monitor tax authority publications and update brackets within days of release. The current version uses:
- US: IRS Revenue Procedure 2025-32 (2026 inflation adjustments), SSA 2026 wage base projection, and 2026 projected state rates.
- UK: HMRC 2025/26 Income Tax bands and Class 1 NI rates; Scottish 2025/26 rates from the Scottish Government.
- Canada: CRA 2025 federal brackets indexed to 2026, provincial/territorial 2025/26 rates.
- Australia: ATO 2025–26 resident individual rates, Medicare Levy, and HELP thresholds.
Limitations
Paymappr estimates wage-equivalent taxes for standard employment (W-2 in the US, PAYE in the UK, T4 in Canada, standard PAYG in Australia). We do not calculate:
- Capital gains, dividends, or other non-wage income.
- Full self-employment tax returns (Schedule C, SE, etc.) — our self-employed pages show the main principles but not the full filing.
- City, county, or municipal income taxes (flagged in text where they apply, not auto-calculated).
- Tax credits beyond the basic standard deduction or personal allowance.
Paymappr Research Team
All tax data, bracket tables, and calculator logic on Paymappr is produced and maintained by the Paymappr Research Team — a group of researchers specialising in cross-border personal taxation. We compare primary legislative sources against annual budget publications and independent reports (Tax Foundation, Fraser Institute, Resolution Foundation) before publishing any rate.
Our team has collective expertise in:
- US federal and state income tax (IRS, 50-state revenue departments)
- UK Income Tax, National Insurance, and Scottish devolved rates (HMRC, Scottish Government)
- Canadian federal and provincial/territorial tax, CPP, QPP, and EI (CRA, Revenu Québec)
- Australian income tax, Medicare Levy, and HELP repayments (ATO)
- Payroll tax, self-employment tax, and FICA obligations
We are not licensed tax advisors, attorneys, or CPAs. Our calculators are designed for personal budgeting, salary research, and educational purposes. For filing your taxes, please consult a qualified professional or the official government service for your jurisdiction.
Editorial policy
Paymappr publishes tax rate information under the following principles:
- Primary sources only. Every rate we publish is sourced from the official legislative authority (IRS Rev. Procs., HMRC budget documents, CRA T4032, ATO Tax Tables). Secondary aggregators are used only for cross-verification.
- No commercial bias. We do not accept payment to feature, rank, or misrepresent any tax figure. Advertising (Google AdSense) is clearly separated from editorial content and does not influence the calculator results.
- Corrections policy. If you find an error in any bracket or threshold, email [email protected] with the source reference. Verified corrections are applied within 48 hours and noted in the page's last-updated date.
- Transparency on estimates. Where 2026 rates are projected (e.g. Canadian brackets indexed to inflation), we label them as projected and link to the calculation methodology.
- No personalised tax advice. Paymappr provides estimates, not individualised advice. We clearly state limitations on every page (no capital gains, no credits beyond BPA/standard deduction, no municipal taxes).
- Privacy commitment. Input data (salary, filing status, deductions) is never transmitted to our servers. It stays in your browser session only and is not logged, sold, or shared.
This policy was last reviewed April 2026 by the Paymappr Research Team.
